This blue-eyed, gorgeous boy of ours is 18 months old and growing and changing with each passing day. We had the day just the two of us this past Thursday and it was lovely to really look into his sweet little face and watch the joy and wonder of his experiences cross it. I took him to a little local music class, where he shakes the instruments and bops from side to side with his little dance moves. Then we walked the 100 of so meters to the op shop, past lots of exciting sites like the post office, police station, a phone box, gardens, sticks and a road, all the things of little boys dreams. It makes for an adventure filled 15 minutes for Quill with the ultimate destination of morning tea and 50 cent toys at the op shop. He gets to have a snack, a play and before coming home for a rest. It was lovely to just take the time to watch him and be with him, I know before I know it he won't be my little toddler any more.
There is lots to say about our little man. In many ways he is still our baby. He started taking his first steps around Christmas time and just really took off walking in the last month. He still loves to crawl sometimes but has realised walking/running means you can keep up with big brother and sister much better. He adores Finley and Primrose. He gives them sweet kisses as they leave for school and preschool and blows kisses to them as they walk away. He follows their lead in the morning crossing his arms for family prayer. If we happen to pass by the school in the car and kids are on the oval playing, he lights up and screams out for Finley. They both take the time to play with him and are getting more savy at closing their bedroom doors to ensure no little hands get into their things and are generally very loving and patient with him.
Quill absolutely loves animals and loves the outdoors. He is happiest in nature, wandering and exploring and he lights up if a puppy passes his way. We are excited to see his little personality take shape, he is inquisitive and marvels at the world around him. His new favourite thing to say is 'Woooooww' at anything new or exciting, which we love.
He is a really affectionate boy, he loves having cuddles in the morning, kissing all day every day and bedtime is very special where he nestles in and loves to be sung to. He loves sharing his food with us, even if it is half munched and likes to climb, body slam and wiggle all over you. He does a lot of waiting around while the other two are taken to activities etc and he is endless patient on drives. He gets his own little outings too and has started preschool on Fridays where he has settled in and is much loved by the carers.
We are starting to hear some more words, he has been saying mum and dad for a long while but he has started to say hello and bye, can say car and attempts to say Finley. He is starting to mimic us, particular me after I have been firm with the kids, he does his own version directly after! His favourite games are with balls, or knocking down duplo towers, tickling with sounds (dgdgdle) and anything outside.
Quill is equal parts mischief and sweetness. His new favourite activities include climbing on the dining table, giving mum a heart attack and going through everything and anything in cupboards or rooms. We are all learning to shut doors! He has so much laughter and life in him, we love him so much and are grateful he is ours.
