A Trip to the Coast

We took a little get away in February to explore more of the South Coast. Now that we are in Canberra there are lots of new places for us to discover and plenty of coastline to explore. We decided on a sleepy little town called Tuross Head and had a cabin right on the beach. Nothing like waking up to that view and the sounds of the ocean. We were very lucky that even though the forecast said rain we had a great first day in the water. The kids love every minute of being at the beach and with the calm bay were able to have a go kayaking and using their body boards. Beach days really are the best days.

Every morning we were greeted by beautiful rainbow Lorikeets eager for some of our breakfast. The kids were absolutely fascinated with them and gradually built up the courage to have them on their arms and eventually their heads. We had a very funny episode with Quill. He was so keen for the bird to come on his head but panicked as soon as it landed, he dropped to the ground, the bird totally unphased by his panic just keep pacing back and forth on his body. Poor Quill is probably not interested in seeing them again! The other kids can't wait. 

Levi got a good kayak in and explored the beautiful inlet and I took a big walk around the headland and found a lovely lighthouse. We visited the lighthouse the next day with high winds tossing our hair about but had lots of fun keeping ourselves from blowing away. We had a lovely drive to Bodella, dairy country and loved the little experience we had there. The kids were able to feed the calves from a bottle, look through the windows of the cheese factory and see what happens there and try fresh milk and icecream. It is such a beautiful green place, we really loved it.

For our last day we drive further south and explored Narooma, took a walk on the beach and stopped for lunch and a play at the park before heading home. So lovely to have some time away by the beach together.
