Lunenburg, the historic colourful town set on a hill is one of the gems of Nova Scotia and home to the Bluenose. September weather is hit or miss and we chose a chilly day to embark on a sea voyage, but we bundled up and joined Jack and Deborah for a sail on the iconic ship. Dad got to try out his op shop Canada Goose jacket which seemed to do the trick and off we went. The best part is being able to see the view of Lunenburg from the water with all of it's colourful buildings and being out in that fresh sea air.
While Mum and Dad were with us we took two trips to Lunenburg and between the two visits we walked most of the town and Dad got to keep up with his chowder dining at the different restaurants we visited. Mum was very hopeful that she could buy an original art work from a designer she remembered since last being here many years ago. We were quite startled by the prices and ended up settling for prints but the work was lovely to behold, quilted artwork that really is striking. We always find treats and trinkets along the way and I was really excited to see some glug jugs locally made, so mum and I both got one to amuse the guests at our tables. My house will be dotted with little reminders of our life here. Lunenburg is a lovely day out in Nova Scotia. A little piece of history preserved in the most idyllic of settings.
