Scarecrows and Apples

Fall in Nova Scotia is such a beautiful time of year. It's a wonderful time to go for drives and appreciate the changing leaves as well as visit small towns that don't let the beauty of the season pass unmarked. One such town is Mahone Bay, famed for it's much painted view of three churches and home to the Scarecrow Festival.

We chose a perfect day to go. The sun was shining and that crisp fall air makes everything feel fresh and alive. You can't help but smile as you approach the town and are greeted by all sorts of funny scarecrows. We parked and began our walk through the town enjoying the shops and the creativity that went into making all of these scarecrows. Prim made the perfect model and she loved them all! We stopped in for lunch and dad had his Nova Scotia go-to, Chowder as well as lobster sandwiches and chicken pie for me.

On our drive back we kept an existing appointment that Dad had with an antique dealer in the area. He showed them some of his treasures including Polar bar paw gloves and a porcupine quill pen that mum bought. While they looked, Primrose and I explored the crab apples trees and took in the beauty of fall. Primrose is always such a lovely companion on whatever little jaunt we go on.
