Mermaid for a Day ~ Primrose turns Three

We could not have asked for a more beautiful and lovely day to celebrate our girl turning three. Her birthday fell on the Victoria Day holiday so Levi had the day off and we were able to fulfill Primrose's wish to go as a family to do pool and be mermaids. We started the day with the three of us waking her to the sound of 'Happy Birthday', she was her beautiful sweet self, smiling and happy that her special day had come. She was very concious that she was two and is now three and ready to get into the action. Then it was pancakes and two presents, dollies from mummy and grandma who have been waiting two years til she was the right age to have them. Primrose loved them on sight, she is a dolly girl for sure.

The kids spent the morning playing in the fort they/we had constructed the night before. Dragging all their treasures from around the house into the confined space. And then it was time for the pool! Primrose has had 10 weeks of lessons and is starting to feel a bit more confident in the water. Living in Canada doesn't afford us as much opportunity to swim but we all enjoy it when we do, especially Finley who is a natural fish. Prim likes swimming with Daddy the most, who is the perfect mix of adventure and security for her. She is kicking and blowing bubbles like a champ and the big goal is to go under the water like a mermaid. After her little nap in the afternoon we had cake, singing and candles, always a highlight, and the last of the presents, some my little ponies and a unicorn necklace

The best way to describe Primrose is that she is the sunshine in our lives. We often comment on how lucky we are to have her in our family. She brings fun, smiles, cuddles and kisses to every moment of life and we all adore her. Finley is still her most favourite and they are great little playmates. Primrose follows him everywhere and will play any game he wants to. She is also extremely generous to him, anything he asks for she will give, whether it's the toy she is holding or the food she is about to eat! At the moment she loves everything mermaids and unicorns, but still loves some old favourites like playing puzzles (which she is getting great at), dressing up (mainly as Cinderella) and playing in her kitchen and feeding her stuffed toys. She is a little wizz on the scooter and has been getting good at peddling her little bike. With the benefit of watching Finley do things she can flip on the trampoline and will adventure around the house with Finley collecting sticks and rocks.

Primrose really does have the sweetest little spirit. After the long winter, when the flowers started to bloom she would inspect them in our garden and declare 'wow, so beautiful'. It was like witnessing someone see a flower for the first time. She has such an appreciation for the details and beauty of life. She loves colours and textures and is often amazed at the experiences she has. One of her most amazing qualities is her ability to overcome disappointment. Shes likes to feel what she needs to feel but you can see the little cogs turn in her mind and then she will announce, 'I'm happy now' and carry on.

I cannot say enough about this little girl, our sweet Prim. Happy third birthday our darling girl.
