Primrose our beautiful first rose has had a brilliant and wonderful year. Almost weekly she tells us that something in her life has made her dreams come true. That is how she makes he way through life. A true and steady optimist who sees the best in all her experiences. She isn't our little girl anymore, she's growing into a very capable, confident and talented young miss. We adore the light she brings into our family and the friend and peacemaker she is for all. It's been a nice, steady year for her, learning and growing.
Primrose started the year in Grade 1 with a teacher she loved Miss Riley. Sadly she left mid year but was replaced by Miss Whiting who Primrose just adored from the onset. It was a great year for learning, her reading took off and she now confidently reads simple chapter books. Primrose is a careful and steady learner. She takes it very seriously and she has progressed in all areas over the year. A highlight for me was having Primrose for her computer class one hour each week. We loved that special bit of time together where she got to have mum as her teacher! We were lucky enough to see Primrose perform in the infants concert and I got to get lots of waves and cuddles on the two days I worked at the school. Primrose has dedicated herself to learning abouts rocks and gems particularly and we think we may have a budding geologist on our hands. It's so fun to watch her interests grow as she discovers the world.
Life outside of school was full with Joeys, gymnastics, swimming and horse riding. Steady progress, fun and skills were gained across the board. She is a confident little rider and began to canter this year. She loves her time with Adelaide and their pony Flash, I still pinch myself that we have been so lucky to have the opportunity to learn to ride. There were also some fun birthday party invites to King Pin, the reptile park and Flip Out, lots of playdates with Eden and fun riding bikes and playing with the kids on the street. Primrose did some excellent art and and sewing this year too. She really sets her mind to a tasks and is becoming really skilled.
There were lots of fun adventures through the year. I took the kids ice skating twice which they loved, we went on a trip to Sydney and met up with their Nelson Bay besties for the day and sleep over at Aunty Courtney's. We went to Floriade, saw Van Gogh live, saw the Hungry Caterpillar play at the Opera House. We had some special mum and me outings together through the year which were just wonderful. We made an occasion of each one, getting dressed up and prepped for our special time. We saw Fairytales on ice at the Canberra Theatre with lots of other little girls and their mums. We travelled to Sydney for the weekend to go to the Alice in Wonderland installation at The Grounds and have a beautiful breakfast with Grandma and Courtney. Then we road tripped together again to see a production Cinderella at the Lyric Theatre. On the Cinderella visit we perused the Queen Victoria Building and ate lunch at a cafe right beside the huge and beautiful Christmas tree. We shared a bed at night where Primrose tried her very best not to kick me through the night. I treasure all those moments with my girl and I hope she wants to do things with me always.
Our girl turned 7 this year and I can hardly believe it. It feels like just yesterday she was my little shadow at home but now she is finding her place in the world and bringing the best she had to living a wonderful life. We are very proud of who you are Primrose. You set your mind to things and love learning. You are a gift and a light to those around you and we are so lucky to call you ours. We can't wait to see what the years bring, it's going to be amazing.
