Well, this little boy of ours is not so little anymore. He was more than ready to start Kindergarten after the summer holidays and eagerly took off to class without a backward glance. The year has been full on learning, letters, words, reading, friends and independence. He is grown so much and come such a long way in just a year and we've seen many of Quill's own little unique attributes emerge in the process.
Quill had enough time last year to settle into preschool and make some friends that would be starting Kindergarten at St Patrick's at the same time as him. He attended all sorts of orientation activities, and with two older siblings already at the school he was rearing to go. He was put in Kinder White with Miss Dorn and made some wonderful little friends - Henry, Irah and Ned. He mostly reports that lunch time is spent chasing the girls. Quill is a very careful and diligent student, he wants to do his best at everything and puts the time in to get it just right. He has worked hard all year to learn his 'tricky' words and has done so well progressing through the levels of his home reader. One of the highlights of the school year was watching Quill perform as Joseph in the end of school nativity, which he took on with the same commitment as he has shown all year. He also came first in his running race at the Kinder Olympics, had fun at the school disco and colour run and loved having mum come to anything and everything that school hosted. He made all my dreams come true dressing as Peter Rabbit for his first book week.
This year Quill played soccer for the first time and loved it. He was on the green team and they had training once a week and small games on the weekend. He always had a great time. He also started riding lessons with Chloe and joined in at pony club towards the end of the year. He had his first experience winning ribbons which was very exciting and also made a friend, who also happens to live down the street and rides like a real cowboy. We've seen Quill grow in confidence swimming, he's also starting to learn to ride a bike. He is a very fast runner and has some incredible strength doing push up's like a pro.
He loved all of our adventures this year. Our holiday to QLD to see the cousins was a highlight and getting to go to Dream World. He entered and came first in all sorts of categories for the Maitland Show and loved seeing all his things displayed in the cabinets. He went of his first rollercoaster which he loved! We did great activities at the art gallery, spent lots of time at the river and kayaking on the dam
Quill has a beautiful character. He has a great sense of humour. He is the first to wake up in our household, has the cleanest room, is the most organised and loves helping out with farm work around the property. He adores our chickens most of all I think. Quill has had a wonderful year and we are so proud of him.
