Fun, adventure, learning, horses, horses, bunnies, bunnies, bunnies, Primrose has had a lovely year full of all of her favourite things. Lots of fun with the usual - school, netball, pony club.. Lots of determination, courage and effort. And lots of memorable adventures along the way too.
We started the year with a very fun horse ride to the river with friends Primrose made at pony campy the year before. It was such a beautiful experience watching the girls bonding over their shared loved and having so much fun together. The holidays were busy and full, we spent lots of time swimming and crafting for the show but we always find ourselves back in routine by February and ready to take on the year.
It's been a really key year for Primrose at school. It was her first year with a laptop which she was very excited about. She loved her teacher Mrs Kleinman and thrived in her class. She was awarded the Achievement in English Award at the end of year ceremony and was selected as one of six students in her grade to take part in the gifted and talented program at school. She's a wonderfully dedicated student and is excited for all that's to come in Year 5. She also participated in a writing course and is excitedly working on her stories.
This was the first year that Primrose rode in the Maitland Show. We did two days with Porridge in the blazing heat and it was an experience! She came away with lots of ribbons and we got some great time at the actual show, seeking out all our families entries and getting excited about all the prizes won.
This year she also got her own horse who we named Bridie. She is a step up for Primrose and she has had to show lots of courage and resilience learning the skills to confidently ride her. Chloe has been wonderful in helping her solidify all the basics and despite some set backs they have a wonderful bond and are progressing together nicely. Primrose was awarded the Junior Most Improved rider at the end of year award ceremony which was well deserved.
Her winnings at the Maitland Show were very impressive this year. Lots of arts and crafts but we found we really enjoyed the horticulture and plan to do more next year. Primrose won the most successful exhibitor ribbon and a $20 gift card for her beautiful arrangement and vegetable turtle. It's always lots of fun to be apart of it.
Primrose turned 10 this year and celebrated with her own 'Camp Prim' birthday party, complete with bonfire and smores making. It was epic! She had so much fun and was spoiled by all of her lovely friends. We saw the fire in Primrose's this year in Netball. She trained hard and was so determined each week. She played so well, even in absolutely drenching rain and attended some extra fun training days and try outs through the year. We were back at swimming lessons too, with Primrose moving up to level 4 and really improving her strokes and distant. We also managed to get some park runs in this year with varying degrees of success! We will get there!
So many special adventures this year. She and Finley caught the plane to QLD in the winter holidays so spend time with their cousins. We had a weekend in Sydney and went to the Grounds for their Snow White installations, then Grandma took Lily and Primrose to see the movie. She got to come along with mum and Finley to watch the Mamma Mia musical in Sydney and look for pointers to give Finley. We did a very fun countdown advent calendar to get us excited for the second Wicked movie. We made a special night of it, dressing up and seeing it with Winter and Brooke. We had a special trip just the two of us to Sydney to see Kacey Musgraves perform at the Opera House. It was Primrose's first concert and it was magical! A never to be forgotten moment. We also stopped in on the way home for breakfast at The Grounds and wandered their beautiful Christmas installation.
We made it to the beach a couple of times which Primrose always loves. We had lots of swims in the dam, river and spa. We can't forget that this is the year we got our new bunnies - Blossom, Maple and Clover who are primarily cared for, loved, cuddled and carted around by Primrose. She is an excellent pet owner, feeding the horses and bunnies every morning.
Dad and I are so proud of our girl. We are constantly amazed by her. She's a wonderful sibling, excellent student, kind friend, hard worker and general all around lovely person. It's been a wonderful year and so many good things have happened. There's no doubt in my mind that there are many more to come.
