Show Time { Maitland Show 2026 }

Another very fun show year with lots of entries, excitement, big wins and lots of ribbons! As is tradition we had a ride on the dodgem cars and the kids chose a great fun ride flying up in the air. We saw the animas and the cutest bunnies, which we would take taken home but we have reached bunny capacity. The poultry was impressive, we saw a few breeds we liked the looked of and took notes for future reference. Our favourite of course is racing to the pavilions to see who has taken out the most wins! 

We didn't enter as much this year but we did the competitions we find the most fun. Horticulture is a favourite. The people running it are so lovely and encouraging of the kids, the pavilion is beautiful and inspiring and they have the best ribbons by far. Finley won 'Most Successful Exhibitor' and 'Champion' for the high school sections - which gets your two beautiful ribbons and $40 gift voucher to flower power. He was feeling a bit down about being the only entry and winning by default but I explained to him how happy him making the effort makes the organisers, it contributes to the event and spectators love seeing the kids work. It's a way to contribute to the community and be apart of something meaningful. And that alone is worth celebrating. Primrose won 'Most Successful Exhibitor' with one first, two seconds and a highly commended. She got a $20 voucher. Quill was our big surprise with a first for his vegetable caterpillars, taking our Junior 'Champion' with a huge ribbon, taller than him and a $20 gift voucher. We were there for the awards ceremony and he was just beaming! After the show, we collected all of there entries and went straight to flower power where they spent their vouchers on a mango diffuser, chicken and turtle ornaments, a lavender relaxation roller and Lily chose a sweet little hummingbird. Very happy kids. 

In the handicraft Lily took out first place for her drawing and highly commended for her pet rock and Primrose came away with a first for her diamond dot artwork.

The highly anticipated competition was for the colouring. When we attended the show they hadn't judged it yet so we had to wait until pick up. Primrose was just bursting to know and it turns out she won! The prize is $50 for first and Finley took our second with $20. So their efforts turned out to be quite lucrative. Lily came in 3rd and was thrilled with her beautiful white ribbons she'd always wanted. 

We had a lovely time participated and being apart of it all again this year. It's such a lovely little tradition we have going and a great way to be apart of a long running tradition of rural life.
