Any and every direction you travel in Nova Scotia will bring you to amazing and diverse beauties. I love that you can travel just an hour in any direction and find beautiful things to see and do, so unique and quintessentially Nova Scotia. I had spent the previous few years compiling a list and seeking out the very best of Nova Scotia and the Valley is right up there as one of my favourites.
We headed off bright and early to catch low tide at Hall's Harbour. The Bay of Fundy is an incredible place. It has the highest tidal shifts in the world where you can walk on the ocean floor then a few hours later see it filled in metres high of water. We had a great time exploring together and walked right out to the water which was still on it's way out. The boys had a particularly good time exploring and climbing. Next we walked down to the somewhat secret Medford rock formations. Getting here is all word of mouth and I love taking people here. You have to find your way through the overgrown scrub until you find the path that leads you down the rocks and onto the ocean floor. It's a secret little spot and worth the effort with the tall and huge rounded out rocks. To end the day we stopped at Reimer Gardens for some raspberry picking. It's amazing how incredible the raspberries taste right from the tree. I loaded up to make jam and we all had our fill eating and picking our way along the rows. It was a perfect day in the Valley, bright blue skies and beautiful views. That night my lovely friends Jen and Camille threw me a gorgeous little baby shower, bee themed and perfect. I was so happy to have Hanna there and introduce her to some of my Halifax favorites. It was such a beautiful night.
So far we had spent a wonderful week with the Ryan's and Saturday mean't market day and our last Halifax day before heading off on our little mini holiday together to Advocate Harbour. The Seaport markets is one of the Halifax highlights for me. I love perusing the markets, buying up on bakery goods and fruit and heading to the roof top to laze in the sun an enjoy our haul. We spent Saturday morning doing just that and then Tate and Hanna headed off on a date while we minded the boys. I was thrilled that the boys love the new Anne of Green Gables show so we had our own little Anne afternoon tea with raspberry cordial, raspberries from yesterdays picking and butter tarts from the markets. They took turns trying on the Anne braids and then we read some of the book together. My nephews really are the sweetest boys.
And with that it was time to prepare for our biggest adventure the next day.
