Bungendore has a little sister town Braidwood thirty minutes drive away. It is such a sweet, quaint town, closer to the coast and really right on the spot where the dry NSW countryside begins to transform into the green rolling hills of the coast. It's main street slopes down the hill and there are treasures to be found walking up and down in antique stores, bakeries, cafes and the famous lolly shop. On this visit we gathered some lunch at the bakery and a bag of lollies all set for an adventure horse ride at the saddle camp not far away.
I've always wanted to experience country life, with it's quieter pace and easy access to horses so that I could learn how to ride. Living in Bungendore has really made those dreams come true. We love the feel of our small town and community, the slower pace rubs off and life has a calm ebb and flow to it. Just across the road Finley and I have been taking horse riding lessons with our neighbours kids as our teachers and it's been just what we hoped.
This holidays I wanted to give both kids the chance to have a trail ride and they both loved it. A women in Braidwood has a great set up where she holds horse riding camps and trail rides, so we headed out there and it was great. Because it was just before Easter they even had a little Easter hunt in the middle, which was a fun surprise for the kids. Finley was able to try a canter and do a small jump and Primrose waded into the dam with her horse to give him a drink. The both did so well and had a great time, it really took Primrose from being unsure about horses to loving them.
Small town living is pretty great. It's fun discovering all the great things that are around to do and living the quiet life.
