Our oldest boy, wonderful Finley turned 8! We had grand plans for his birthday which happened to fall on the Easter weekend, as it occasionally does. His cousins from Queensland were coming and we had his joint baptism with Hendrix planned as well as lots of other fun to celebrate the milestone. But our plans were all turned upside down with the Covid pandemic, with lockdown hitting us just the week before. Finley was a champion through is all and we still had a wonderful Easter and birthday weekend marking his eighth birthday.
Our eight year old woke to balloons and presents and a yummy pancake breakfast. We spent the day riding bikes to the park and playing on the oval, the kids having a last freezing swim in the pool and being together celebrating our boy. Presents this year were pretty epic. He got a guitar from us and some books to read, a circuit set from Courtney and Grandma and Grandpa are pitching in for guitar lessons. Tate and Hanna sent money for a lock and key diary Finley has been excited about and Shannon and Mireille pitched in for Finley to pick the dinner and dessert of his dreams so we ordered pizza and he picked fizzy drink, chips and peppermint ice-cream for dessert. After dinner we called all the family and they sung happy birthday to Finley as he blew out the candles on his cake.
Finley had a great day and we made the most of the crazy time we are living in right now. Luckily under the restrictions we can still go for a walk to the oval, which we do every day and up until now it's been warm enough to swim in the pool which has been lots of fun. Hopefully when things ease the Ryan's can come for a visit and we can have Finley's baptism.
Finley is a wonderful eight year old. He is so helpful around the house, unpacking the dishwasher every morning and keeping his room so clean. He loves reading, riding his bike, is a fantastic runner and really enjoys playing soccer, horse riding and swimming. He is doing great at Joey's and is working on completing his 'promise badge' challenges. School is a joy for him, he loves his teacher Miss Lord who has been a wonderful support while we are homeschooling. She even dropped by the house to say a happy birthday in social distanced person. Finley has lots of friends at school and loves Bungendore.
Our little first born isn't so little anymore. He is very excited for the new baby and will be a wonderful big brother just like he is to Primrose and Quill. You are fantastic Finley and we love you.
