Melbourne! I feel like Courtney, Mum and I had been talking about taking a trip to Melbourne together for years. This April we turned it into a reality in celebration of Mum and Courtney's birthdays which coincided with the art exhibition 'Rone' at Flinder's Street Station that we were all keen to see. Melbourne was full of things to see, do and eat and we had the full Melbourne experience hoping on and off trams, wandering alley's, admiring art and eating all the best it had to offer.
We had a great apartment that had windows over looking the city and right by a tram line. It gave you a real sense of what CBD Melbourne living would be like, very easy to get around and so many great things on your door step. We spent the first day at the Queen Victoria markets, gathering fruit, drinks and pasteries to eat and then we wandered through the city, stopping at shops where it pleased us. We made our way to Flinders Station to see if we could geti into the exhibit. Comically we actually missed out on getting tickets for the Rone exhibition in advance but we managed to get in anyway on the last day of showing and it was really incredible. It was hard to believe what you were seeing wasn't actually rooms lost to the passage of time. I really loved the mail room in particularly. That night we ate out at Italian and had crepes to finish which were perfection.
New day, new adventures, we had breakfast at Hopetoun Tea Rooms which were beautiful and spent some time looking down famous Melbourne allies for cool street art. We persused book stores and snacked on pasteries. We enjoyed some time at the art gallery and shopping thr mall then that night we had amazing mexican dinner and then went to see the Harry Potter play. The special effects were very spectacular and it was a great continuation of the story.
For our last day we waited in an epic line for the famous and worth the wait Lume Crossaints. It's fun seeing all the hype social media creates around these places and to give them a try. They were really good! We had a great time at this interesting art installation place for our few hours before heading home and had a great walk across the river where we found a nice park to munch through our crossaints.
Was an absolutely wonderfully way to spend a weekend. Mellbourne is such a great city and being there with my mum and sister made it even better. xx
