Finley is 11! With every passing year I can see Finley growing and changing and coming into his own. Those childhood years are beginning to make way for the next stage, more independence, more self discovery and Finley with his independent spirit is loving it.
This year is party year and Finley wanted to take his two best friends, Ronan and Bailey, to the movies to celebrate. Levi took them to the Canberra Centre where they got to chose takeaway for dinner and have some play time at King Pin before watching the new Mario Cart movie. The boys stayed the night at our place and in the morning I made a pancake stack cake as we sung Happy Birthday and Finley opened his presents. Lego, money and a road blocks voucher - he was very happy! The boys had a a great time together and did actually get some sleep.
The grandparents came to celebrate Finley's actual birthday but by that point he was quite sick, very bad timing, no fun being sick on your birthday. He still rallied for his gifts - we gave him a new watch that tracks all sorts of cool things, a book and diary and the new computer game he has been wanting. Mum and Dad took him out to buy a real Acubra hat which he looks great it, all set for country life. And with that another birthday is in the bag.
The year has already held lots for Finley. He is riding his bike to and from school now. He entered Year 5 this year with all it's extra work and requirements for time management. He has risen to the challenge and managed being in choir, the futsal and soccer teams, district swimming and cross country and extension opportunities that come up like the DaVinci decathlon, all while staying on top of school work and assignments. He continues horse riding lessons with Adelaide and had a great time at jump club clearing the 50 cm on Porridge. He has guitar lesson with Lachie and is playing soccer for Bungendore. A very busy boy.
Finley is a very capable person. He is clever and loves getting involved with opportunities he is presented with. He is a good friend and is working really hard to be a good brother and example to his siblings. He is a wonder at home, mostly very happy to do work and contribute, including caring for our new bunnies every day, feeding and putting them away at night. He still loves to read, loves the computer and really likes the freedom of riding around town and visiting with friends.
Happy Birthday Finley. Don't go growing up too fast!
