Things start moving fast when you turn 13. We have a teenager now and Finley couldn't be more excited to be heading into teenage hood. With starting at a new school we thought it would be fun for Finley to have a epic, giant 13th to celebrate and get to know his new classmates. He wanted to host a Squid Game themed party for everyone to have a day of fun on the farm. And boy was it huge. Kids every where, all sorts of games and fun. The weather turned it on beautifully, clear and sunny and perfect weather for lots of fun.
There were about 30 kid and I had to get in to teacher mode to keep it all moving. Finley's older friends and neighbours Tommy and Liam were the hosts, in pink hoodies and masks and ran the games. They played red light/green light, tips, tug of war, capture the flag. We kept things simple with pizza, garlic bread, fruit and chip for lunch and then it was on to kayaking in the dam for the afternoon. The kids were great and got right into it all. I was particularly impressed with the girls who won lots of the games. We were sooo lucky with weather. We needed a clear, sunny day and that's exactly what we got. I think we nailed it with Finley's vision for the day.
Finley was absolutely spoiled with gifts from very generous families. All sorts of pokemon gear, a whole heap of gift cards and some fun games. We gave Finley tickets to one of his favourite bands - the Wombats and a shirt to wear to the concert.
He had a few friends camp overnight. They drove all their gear down to the dam on the mower, then kayaked it across to the island to set up. They love camping out there and stayed up late playing games and talking by the fire.
I'm excited for all that's to come for Finley in his teen years. He has lots of enthusiasm and excitement for all of the opportunities coming his way. He's really taken on this first year of High School and is making great relationships, We are really proud of him!
