Every year is a good year for our girl. Primrose brings a light and happiness to every situation and generally faces any challenge or disappointment with a shrug, recovering her happy disposition in lightening speed. It's a pretty good way to be, especially with the effect of Covid on how we thought this year would look.
The year began with lots of swimming in our brief stay in 'the house with a pool'. Primrose improved her swimming in leaps and bounds with time spent in swim club, lessons and spending the holidays jumping in and out of the pool. We are very proud of her progress this year and now that restrictions have lifted she is back in the water recovering lots of those hard earnt water skills. Not only can our girl swim but she learnt to ride her bike without training wheels. She had a few sessions with mum, dad and grandpa but in the end it was her own practicing and determination that got her there. She saw her little friend Scout ride and made up her mind that she would do it. In just a day she got there all on her own and has been riding with more and more confidence throughout the year. She keeps up on bigger rides into town now and loves riding with the local kid gang on our street.
We were very excited for Primrose to get three days a week at the local preschool in Bungendore. It is the most beautiful centre and they have such an incredible time there with wonderful teachers and beautiful surrounds. I was so happy for her to get in and then equally devastated at the prospect of her missing out on the whole year due to covid. Luckily for us she only missed about 6 weeks, where we had some great experiences homeschooling. Soon enough she was back and spent a lot of time playing in the dirt making mud pies, practicing on the monkey bars, exploring nature and playing with her two best friends Eden and Klara. The Preschool gave her the best foundation for next year when she will head across the road to Kindy at Bungendore Public. I'm excited for her and for all of the experiences school will bring for Primrose. She will love it. She loves learning and friends, independence and fun. She was made for school.
The highlight of Prim's year though has definitely been the arrival of her greatest wish - a sister. Lily is the sister she has dreamed of and she was ecstatic that her dream came true. Primrose is a wonderful big sister to Quill and now Lily, she lets them in on her imaginings and is incredibly patience and inclusive. Lily absolutely adores her and allows herself to be carted around like a doll, kissed and cuddled as long as she is included in the fun. One day the two girls will share a room which Primrose is very excited about.
Despite restrictions Primrose has still had a very fun and full year. She has lost two teeth! She was very nervous at first but once the first one was out she was pretty excited. She has continued to horse ride with her teacher Adelaide and is growing in confidence. She has done ready, set, dance, had swimming lessons and swim club, been invited to lots of parties and playdates. She has had lots of fun with the local kids building a house out of bricks on the spare block next to ours and playing games out on the street. She loves playing with her ponies and almost always finds a new one at the op shop for 50 cents when we go. She has a beautiful and vivid imagination and can play for hours in her room dreaming up all sorts of stories. She is a great playmate for Finley and the two make up all sorts of fun and games and mostly get on really well. Primrose loves to read and be read to. This year we have made our way through the Rebel Girls book and learnt all about amazing women through history. She has been doing so well with her reading and sight words and is very ready to take the next step into school next year.
We are very blessed to have Primrose in our home. She is happy, fun, imaginative and kind. She is a wonderful sister and has a big heart. We are so happy for the year she has had learning and growing. I wish I could slow her down a little, each age and stage is so precious but we are excited for all that is to come for our girl.
