This boy of ours has grown and changed so much this year. He's all you can imagine of a two year old with endless energy, two older siblings to compete with and love on and an adventurous, mischievous spirit. We laugh that he is 'more' of everything. More food, more mess, more kisses, more cuddles, more noise, more fun, more cheekiness, more love. He is a big personality and we love the unique little person he is and all that he brings to our family.
He started out the year with a big milestone - going to preschool one day a week which quickly turned into two. He took to it so well and became a quick favourite there with his funny and sweet personality. Now Quill can tell you he goes to preschool ' Thurrrsdays and Friiiidays'. Quill didn't really notice Covid - all he knew is he had his brother and sister around more and more and he could get into all of their school work and activities. We took to doing any written work when Quill was napping. The house we lived in at the beginning of the year had a pool and he had great fun in the water. More cautious than the other two but with his personality we take that as a win. As long and mum or dad are with him he loves the water. The beach he's got though, chasing those waves in and out and digging in the sand have quickly become his favourite things.
His most favourite thing in all the world though is puppies. He just adores them, he wants to make friends with every dog that passes and is so sweet and gentle with them. It all started with Marley, our neighbours beautiful old Labrador who would tolerate Quill crawling all over him. There's no chance of us getting our own dog right now (if ever), so instead we showered Quill with all things doggies for his birthday. The mechanical dogs that walk and bark seemed to do it for him and he loved his puppy cake. Soon enough Grandma will have her own dog and then all of Quills dreams will come true.
Quill is probably the most like Levi. He is happy to spot him as he works on building our deck or laying grass, fixing a toy or putting something together. He loves to watch and learn and have a turn and likes to see how things work. He also loves all things that sparkle and shine. Primrose provides a never ending supply of necklaces, headbands and glittery shoes for Quill to play with. Anything his big brother and sister love he does too. He's definitely the 'me too' brother, always hoping they will include him which mostly they do. He loves them and is sharing a room with Finley which is going much better than expected!
There's one little person that has his heart and that is his new baby sister Lily. When we bought her home, he spent a tentative afternoon not being so sure about this new person. The next day though it was as if she had always been there and he assumed the role of protector. He absolutely adores her and they have such a beautiful special bond.
We've watched on as Quill has taken on new skills and found his own way. He loves his balance bike and we think he'll be riding with the other kids in no time. He is a great player and is loving cars, trains and trucks. Quill loves food, especially pasta and cookies. His vocabulary is getting stronger and stronger, he has all sorts of things to say and I love hearing him mimic all the sounds and phrases of our family.
The years go quick with this one. He is growing up so fast, but still loves to ask me to be a baby when I wrap him in his towel after a bath. He loves being cuddled, rocked and sung too, until his off again on another adventure. We love you Quill.
